Dressing your baby

advice in category: toddler

If you want to make sure your baby isn’t cold, touch its neck. If it’s cool, it’s all right. According to paediatricians, parents overheat their babies much more often than they chill them. So don’t dress your baby too warmly, or it may decrease its immunity.

In the period of increased activity (rolling, crawling), dress your baby as you dress yourself. However, if you go for a walk and your baby is motionless in the pram, cover it with a blanket. An important part of toughening your baby is also an appropriate room temperature. Overheating your baby affects body thermoregulation and leads to colds. Therefore, the room temperature shouldn’t exceed 22°C.
